CAPTAIN GLUCOSE

The leader of the team. He is dedicated to spreading diabetes awareness and helping all people with diabetes to become their own personal diabetes superhero. Captain Glucose has Type 2 diabetes but advocates for people with diabetes of all types.

METER BOY

Meter boy is the youngest member of the Squad. He has Type 1 diabetes and is determined to help all people with diabetes to become their own personal diabetes superhero.

D-GIRL (Dee-Dee)

D-Girl is a Type 1 pump wearing dynamo who doesn’t back down from fighting the good fight to help all people with diabetes to be in good control and be their own personal diabetes superhero.

D-OGGIE

 Oggie is a T1 dog with superpowers and is an important member of The Diabetes Hero Squad. He helps Captain Glucose, Meter Boy, and D-Girl fight the evil diabetes villains...and fetches their D-supplies, too! Oggie is also a hypo and hyper detective and can determine if someone is too high or too low.

AMAZING ENDO

 The Amazing Endo is a doctot, scientist, and all around brains of the squad. He creates devices to helpo the squad fight off the many diabetes villains that they encounter. Sometimes speaks in a bit too technical language, but the others translate his genius into plain people talk. Every person with diabetes needs a good endo and the Diabetes Hero Squad has one in this guy.

BLOOD SUGAR MANIAC

 Every person with diabetes must constantly fight this insidious and annoying evildoer. His mission in life is to make diabetics have high blood glucose. Luckily he is no match for the diabetes superheroes who always put him in his place.

THE CARBOHYDRA

This six headed beast is a wild carb monster. Doing battle with it tests the courage and discipline of every person with diabetes. It looks invulnerable but can be controlled by using weapons like insulin, exercise, and portion control.

hAte1c

This dreaded “a1c” monster is a hater who shows up every three or six months to mess with your head. It is only a number, but it thrives on being higher than what it should be and can’t stand it when you get a number you’re happy with.

BOLUS THE “BLUE FRIDAYS” BEAR

Bolus is all about the Blue Fridays initiative. In addition to encouraging everyone to wear blue on Fridays to bring awareness to diabetes and the people living with it, he loves to spread the word about World Diabetes Day on November 14
